Position Summary
The Utility is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance the galleys on a daily basis, following the cleaning guidelines set by Onboard Management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operational
- Deliver professional and courteous service at assigned workstations following company standards and procedures.
- Ensure proper setup and adherence to procedures at the assigned workstation.
- Assist with vegetable preparation, cleaning of fridges, and storerooms as directed by the supervisor.
- Ensure correct storage of cleaning materials and chemicals.
- Properly manage and recycle food leftovers in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Clean and polish chinaware and maintain general cleanliness of the work area.
- Notify the supervisor of any equipment or machinery breakage or damage.
- Maintain cleanliness in front and back of house areas according to HACCP and safety standards.
- Ensure correct handling of all equipment, machinery, and chemicals.
- Always present a clean and professional appearance in public areas.

- Attend all meetings, training activities or classes related to assigned position as required.

Safety Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and sanitary environment for all guests and crew members.
- Always follow proper procedures and instructions to prevent damage of any kind of ship or company property.
- Know and comply with the European sanitation program and regulations pertaining to his/her working area.
- Participate in safety drills as required.
- Participate in safety training as required.
- Identify and report any potential safety hazards immediately.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly inventories.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations across the ship.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including luggage handling, loading, and garbage off-loading.
- As assigned and instructed by supervisor.
Qualifications
Knowledge, experience, skill, and/or ability
Required
Required
- Experience in galley operations.
- Conversational level of English.
- Knowledge of HACCP.
- Awareness of waste management and recycling procedures.
- Self-organized, disciplined, and a team player.
- Stress tolerant.
- Familiarity with a multicultural working environment.
- Willingness to assist with additional duties as required.
Preferred
- Knowledge of additional language, preferably German.
